REC4 Training
Remote Emergency Care - Level 4 (REC4)
This two-day course is designed for those playing or working in remote areas and builds on previous training.
In order to attend a level 4 course, participants are required to have completed a Remote Emergency Care - Level 3 course (or equivalent) within the last two years.
In addition to Level 3 skills topics covered include:
- Airway management including Suction, Air Adjuncts and the use of a Bag Valve Mask
- Control of bleeding utilising Direct & Indirect pressure, Tourniquet, Wound Packing, Chest Seals
- Field closure of wounds
- Compartment Syndrome
- Stabilisation of Pelvic and Femur fractures
- The Care principles of Helmet Removal (closed adventure sports helmet)
- Focused Spinal Assessment in accordance with the WMS (Wilderness Medical Society) Algorithm
- Construction of a full hypothermia wrap
- Expedition considerations
- The safe administration of Salbutamol and IM Adrenaline
