Remote Emergency Care - Level 4 (REC4)

This two-day course is designed for those playing or working in remote areas and builds on previous training. 

In order to attend a level 4 course, participants are required to have completed a Remote Emergency Care - Level 3 course (or equivalent) within the last two years.

In addition to Level 3 skills topics covered include:

  • Airway management including Suction, Air Adjuncts and the use of a Bag Valve Mask
  • Control of bleeding utilising Direct & Indirect pressure, Tourniquet, Wound Packing, Chest Seals
  • Field closure of wounds
  • Compartment Syndrome
  • Stabilisation of Pelvic and Femur fractures
  • The Care principles of Helmet Removal (closed adventure sports helmet)
  • Focused Spinal Assessment in accordance with the WMS (Wilderness Medical Society) Algorithm
  • Construction of a full hypothermia wrap
  • Expedition considerations
  • The safe administration of Salbutamol and IM Adrenaline
